How to Draw a Person

We worked today on how to draw a person.  It is easier to add details when the people we draw are not stick figures.  Here are a few examples of the people we drew.

Making Shapes

We used pattern block cards to create larger shapes from smaller shapes.  Some cards had outlines of where the smaller pieces should go, and some just had the outer line to fill in with the shapes.

Our FIRST Time in the Computer Lab!

Mrs. Creswell was very brave today and took all 15 of us to the computer lab.  It was a first for everyone, Mrs. Creswell included.  We worked on geometry skills, practicing shapes.

We did a great job, that I think Mrs. Creswell will take us down there again!

Feeling Shapes

We took turns reaching into the feely bag and describing what the shape inside felt like.  Students talked about how many sides and corners a shape had and if necessary, the length of the sides.

REBEL Pride!!!!

Thank you to the GR cheerleaders and football captains for coming over this morning and having a Homecoming pep rally.

Purple Roll-a-Word

We played a game this morning where we rolled a cube with six purple sight words on it.  When we rolled a word we had to write it on our graph to see which word we would roll the most.

Ruth Parsons will be missed

Ruth Parsons, a former bus driver for the district, passed away on Monday.  It is hard to imagine how many lives she touch in her 45 years driving the bus.  The Gladbrook Elementary students make a banner to show their respect.

Geoboard Exploration

We are starting our shape unit today.  We are going to be focusing on 6 two-dimensional shapes: the circle, square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, and rhombus (diamond).  We will be using the geoboards a number of times while we work with these shapes and needed a little time just to explore and investigate what we can do with them.  They were a big hit.
