Our classroom elf came to visit us. We voted on a name and "Fireball" is it. He is keeping a very close eye on things at school.

Thank you to IMPACT and PTO for providing the opportunity for the K-2 students of Gladbrook and Reinbeck Elementaries to go to Cedar Falls and see a play at Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. We were able to see "If you Give a Mouse a Cookie", "Owen", "Amazing Grace", "Imogene's Antlers", "Math Curse", "Master Man", and "Borregeita and the Coyote".
Here we are patiently waiting for the performances to begin.....

Fire Prevention Homework
Students need to do three things this week to make sure they are ready if there would be a fire.
1. Decide on a MEETING PLACE outside of the home where the family can meet once they are out of the house.
2. Check the batteries in your smoke detector.
3. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher.

Fire Prevention Week
Firefighters from the Gladbrook and Lincoln fire departments visited our school today. Our kindergarten class got to ride on top of the fire truck. We had so much fun. They even had the sirens going while we were riding.
They also talked to us about fire safety rules. Matt Koester put on his gear so that we could see what a firefighter looked like and sounded like when they go into a fire. We know that we don't need to be afraid just because of the mask and the sound they make when they breath from their air tank.

How to Draw a Person
We worked today on how to draw a person. It is easier to add details when the people we draw are not stick figures. Here are a few examples of the people we drew.

Mrs. Creswell was very brave today and took all 15 of us to the computer lab. It was a first for everyone, Mrs. Creswell included. We worked on geometry skills, practicing shapes.
We did a great job, that I think Mrs. Creswell will take us down there again!

We took turns reaching into the feely bag and describing what the shape inside felt like. Students talked about how many sides and corners a shape had and if necessary, the length of the sides.
